SURABAYA - Indonesia Brain Tumor Solution is one of the service and treatment centers for brain tumors in Indonesia at the National Hospital. Indonesia Brain Tumor Solution is expected to become a reference for treating brain tumors in Indonesia, including eastern Indonesia.

Indonesia Brain Tumor Solution on October 9 2023, National Hospital together with Surabaya Neuro Science (Snei) held a mini discussion with the theme The Current Update in Brain Tumor Surgery with resource persons Professor Takashi Maruyama from Tokyo Women's Medical University and Dr Dr Irwan Barlian Immadoel Haq SpBS (K). The discussion was guided by Dr Dr Achmad Fahmi SpBS (K) FINPS IFAANS

Indonesia Brain Tumor Solution National Hospital is supported by specialist neurosurgeons who specialize in studying brain tumors and is supported by sophisticated equipment. Such as microscopes, endoscopes, and 3 Tesla MRI with special protocols for examining brain tumors. Apart from that, treatment of brain tumors at the Indonesia Brain Tumor Solution National Hospital is also carried out comprehensively with a team of specialist doctors who are experienced in their fields.

Dr Dr Irwan Barlian Immadoel Haq SpBS (K) said that a tumor is an abnormal growth of uncontrolled tissue. That means, a brain tumor means abnormal tissue growth in the brain. Brain tumors are divided into two types. There are benign and malignant tumors. Pathologically benign brain tumors are said to be benign, their growth is slow, but they are still disturbing. Meanwhile, malignant tumors are characterized by rapid growth, frequent recurrences or after surgery the tumor will grow again.

"The most frequent symptom is chronic, progressive headache, getting worse over time, and over time other disorders are added to it. Such as vision, hearing and other nerve disorders. Symptoms depend on the location of the tumor itself. Brain tumors can grow in all parts of the brain. For example, if a brain tumor grows in the area of vision, the eyes will become blurry. "Or if it grows in the motor center, the motor skills will be disrupted," explained Irwan Barlian to the media crew.

So, what causes brain tumors? Until now, no one knows the specific cause of this tumor. However, from a theoretical perspective, this is because there are changes in the character of the tissue cells in the brain structure. For example, normal glia mutate into gliomas. Irwan added that what was clear was that there was a change in mutation. "There are also risk factors such as exposure to high radiation, excessive stress, there is a family genetic factor in developing tumors, but that is not something that is certain either," he said.

Meanwhile, National Hospital CEO Ang Hoey Tiong said, National Hospital also has several other Centers of Excellence. The Center of Excellence is the answer for medical needs and provide more comprehensive services for patients. Like NH-DAPS which not only handles aesthetics but also reconstruction and plastic surgery, the Stroke and Rehabilitation Center helps patients, especially post-stroke patients with medical rehabilitation using robotic technology, Surabaya Neuro Science which focuses on neurosurgical services ranging from epilepsy to Parkinson's.

“We hope that the Indonesia Brain Tumor Solution will be like an oasis in the desert. "I believe that Indonesia Brain Tumor Solution can help many people, especially brain tumor survivors, to get more comprehensive treatment using sophisticated equipment at the National Hospital," said Ang Hoey Tiong.
