Officially, the Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) implanted device from PINS has reached Indonesia. Exactly on November 5 2023, National Hospital together with dr. Heri Subianto, SpBS(K) as a specialist in functional neurosurgery and epilepsy surgery, carried out the first VNS implantation operation for an epilepsy patient at the National Hospital.
Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) is very useful, especially for treating epilepsy that is not controlled with medication, it can reduce the frequency of seizures, shorten the duration of seizures, reduce consumption of anti-seizure medications, and improve emotions and quality of life.
